Since it was founded in 1972 the Rotary Club of Shetland has played an active role in Shetland life. It is involved directly in local community activities and through its fundraising activities supports local, national and international organisations.
Rotary clubs are based in local communities across the world with its members meeting on a regular basis for fun and friendship, and to plan projects that will benefit the lives of others. Across the world more than 1.2 million people volunteer their time and talent to further the Rotary motto "Service above self".
