How Rotary helps nationally

Some of the funds that the club raises go to help national causes.

In April 2010 the club was pleased to be able to make a donation of £1,000 to Help for Heroes, the charity created to help wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The cheque was presented at the club's autumn Cheese and Wine event to Edward Paul of the local Territorial Army unit. A few weeks later Edward came to the Rotary meeting to tell us more about the work that the TA does before his posting to Afghanistan.

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical and financial support. The Rotary Club of Shetland was pleased to be able to make a donation of £1,000 to this worthwhile cause.
